Path to Homeownership
Every homeowner started somewhere.
Buying a home is a big decision. It can also feel like a complicated one. How much do you need to save? What does a lender look for? What happens between getting preapproved and receiving your keys?
You don't have to figure it all out on your own. EDCOR EDU's Path to Homeownership workshop walks you through the homebuying process, one step at a time. You'll learn what to expect, how to prepare, and where to find help along the way.
What you'll learn
- How to tell whether you're financially ready to buy
- What credit scores, income and debt mean to lenders
- How mortgage preapproval works
- What to consider when deciding how much house you can afford
- The difference between down payments and closing costs
- What happens during the home search, inspection, financing and closing process
- Where to find first-time homebuyer assistance, including EDCOR's Down Payment Assistance program
Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for first-time homebuyers and people who are thinking about purchasing a home in the next year or two. You don't need to have a lender, real estate agent, or property picked out. It's perfectly fine to come with questions and no definite timeline.
What you'll leave with
A clearer understanding of the homebuying process, practical next steps, and information about resources that may help you prepare.
